Happy Revolutionary New Year!
The YA-YA Network wishes you a healthy and revolutionary year. We are pleased to announce the launching of our new website that details our mission statement and provides organizing resources, including popular education workshops and alternatives to enlisting into the military.

2015 has been a very transformative year for many of our young people. We had the opportunity to build community during our camp retreat at Princeton-Blairstown Center. We also have participated to the
Dignity in Schools campaign fighting to end the school to prison pipeline. Youth and staff at YA-YA also participated in a three day Restorative Justice training conducted by restorative justice guru Eric Butler with Talking Peace. Folks gained skills in conflict mediation and trauma healing by participating in restorative justice circles.

Folks at YA-YA also had the opportunity to participate in Training for Change's "
Training for Social Action Trainers"  (TSAT) workshop. This was an intensive training designed for experienced facilitators wanting to revitalize their work, new trainers wanting to inspire, teachers, community leaders, activists -- anyone wanting to take their skills to a new level and learn how training can be used more effectively. The workshop gave people the opportunity to develop a stronger sense of the training tools, approaches and choices that will work for them to be most powerful and useful in their trainer role.

Additionally, four more youth participants were promoted to paid staff positions! YA-YAs were also speakers and presenters at numerous events and conferences including: The Gathering at Riverside Church, INCITE Color of Violence Conference in Chicago and Our Voices, Our Movement Youth Summit. YA-YAs also helped to organize and host the East Coast Solidarity Summer. In addition, we hit the streets with Millions Man March NYC chanting "Black Lives Matter." YA-YAs were also core organizers of CUNY Prison Divest and participated in ICE Free NYC and the Fight for $15 campaign.

On October 30th, 2015, we hosted our annual Dia De Los Muertos event Dia De Los Muertos is a traditional Mexicana celebration that centers our ancestors and loved ones that have departed. We build an ofrenda filled with memories of our loved one, as well as food and drinks that our loved ones cherished. This year we honored and celebrated our black, trans, queer, indigenous and undocumented comrades, sisters, and brothers that were taken from us due to state violence. We built an ofrenda. We also danced to a mariachi band and beat Donald Trump piñatas to a pulp!
