Forward Global Women fosters and nurtures the development and growth of women leaders to become active peacemakers promoting co-existence.  We envision a world where women are actively engaged in conflict-resolution and peacemaking.

Forward Global Women convenes and trains women leaders in political and civic life from the Middle East and North African (MENA) countries of Jordan, Palestine, Israel, Tunisia, Egypt, and Morocco, along with women from the USA.

Manal Omar is the acting vice president for the Middle East and Africa Center at the United States Institute for Peace. Previously, she was the Regional Program Manager for the Middle East for Oxfam – Great Britain, where she responded to humanitarian crises in Palestine and Lebenon, and supported work in Yemen, Iraq, and Egypt. She also previously served as the Regional Coordinator for Afghanistan, Iraq, and Sudan with Women for Women International.

​She was named among 
Top 500 World’s Most Influential Arabs by Arabia Business Power in 2011 and 2012, and among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World by Georgetown University and The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in 2009. In 2007, Islamic Magazine named her one of the ten young visionaries shaping Islam in America.
Volunteer with the Convening
Minnesotans are invited to participate in the convening in the following ways:
  • Host a guest: provide housing for a guest for five days, including a private bedroom and bathroom. 
  • Co-host a meal: assist in providing a lunch or dinner for the participants.
  • Provide transportation: drive participants to daily meetings at The Woman's Club of Minneapolis near Loring Park.
  • Organize materials: assemble gift bags and other materials as needed.
  • Help at events: assist at the public event, Monday morning, August 3.

Nobel Peace Prize Forum
Global women peacemakers met for breakfast prior to the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis in March.
