This year for America Recycles Day, November 15 - the nation-wide annual celebration of recycling  -  Keep McIntosh Beautiful partnered with the McIntosh Art Association for an art competition and exhibit titled the McIntosh Recycled and Eco Art Challenge and sponsored a Community Recycling Day on Saturday, November 12, in Darien.  The results of both are below.

KMB sends a BIG THANK YOU! to all who participated in these events and for ALL of you who have made recycling a part of your daily lifestyle.

Thanks also to KMB member Nancy Woodward for creating the McIntosh Recycling Guide that can help you find places to recycle a wide variety of items and materials.  Find it at www.keepmcintoshbeautiful.com

More than 2 tons of recyclables were collected Saturday at the Community Recycling Day event!  Breaking it down, county residents dropped off 1,840 lbs of scrap metal, 1.575 tons of assorted electronics, more than 200 lbs of clothing, textiles and other household goods, 180 lbs. of assorted batteries and a small quantity of compact and tube fluorescent light bulbs.   More than 800 pounds of paper was shredded on site as well.  WAY TO GO, McIntosh!  We appreciate the participation of our partners Goodwill of the Coastal Empire, Glynn Iron and Metal, Record Services and Waste Management.
