COMMUNITY SERVICE

LEARN... BELIEVE... DREAM... DARE
OUR COMMUNITY ROCKS A TON!
Thank you Horizon Honors Community for supporting Model UN's Goodwill drive.
We donated 2516 pounds raising over $250!  These donations go a long way towards paying for our future MUN competitions.  Horizon Community, you are the best!

With all the talk about walks outs, high school students expressed their need for action and their voices to be heard on March 14th. Horizon Honors feels it is important for young people to get involved because they are the future of the nation and need and must be informed about what is going on around them.  Every generation has produced some kind of change and now it was their turn to determine their convictions and act upon them.  Instead of a walk out, students who wanted to signed up to participate in Horizon’s AMPLIFY YOUR VOICE focused on service learning and wellness during the last 45 minutes of the school day.  Through various activities, students were able to unpack their voice and realized that they may not be able to “fix” the world, but they can make an impact right here, right now.
HOORAY!
On March 7th, the Horizon Concert Band traveled to the Scottsdale School District Concert Band Festival to perform for judges and to participate in clinics.  The two-day festival was a valuable learning experience for the students, who gave a great performance and represented Horizon well.  The judges awarded Concert Band "superior with distinction".  "Superior" is the highest rating given by a judge and "with distinction" means all three judges rated the band as "superior".  We are proud of our band students and how they demonstrated musical excellence at the festival.  Great job Concert Band!
