MS GIRLS SOFTBALL
The girls softball team defeated Northwest Christian 13-8 on Thursday, December 7th. Jessica Leake and Lucy Holweger combined to pitch an outstanding game for the Eagles.  The girls were aggressive throughout the entire game.  Sasha Wells and Malia Knight stole over 10 bases.  The team also had some clutch hits that led to their third victory out of four this season. Next game is at home on Monday, December 18th against Christ's Greenfield at 3:30 pm.

“Screenagers” Follow Up
Over the last three weeks your child has been involved in follow up discussion about topics viewed in “Screenagers.”   We wanted to share the discussion points in case you want to build upon them at home.
  1. What is empathy, and how is it different from sympathy?
  2. List some actions that show the differences between empathy and sympathy.
  3. What does this saying mean? “Don’t criticize someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes.”
  4. Why do you believe the researchers say screen time has decreased the ability of teens to feel empathy?
  5. Why is it important for people to empathize with others?
  6. If time… What makes it difficult to show empathy? Name some actions that show you're being sensitive to people's feelings. How does it make you feel when people show they understand what you’re going through?
  7. Health experts say too much screen time can get in the way of a healthy lifestyle. Do you agree? Why or why not?
  8. In your opinion, can teens become “addicted” to their screens (phones, tablets, computer, TV, video games)?
  9. Is it possible to break the habit?
  10. If all your electronics suddenly went dead, what would you do instead?
  11. What can you plan to do on your winter break that doesn’t include screen time?

PARENT PARTNERSHIP
COCA-COLA GIVE
Turn your Coca-Cola product purchases into donations to Horizon Honors Schools.

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Horizon Honors Schools to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket.

When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply enter the product codes here: https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/ and our school receives a donation
OR
We will also have designated spots in each office to collect clean caps and/or cut-out labels with codes on them and enter them for you!

Horizon Honors - let’s make the most of this program and learn more at Coke.com/give

Codes can be found under all product caps of various individual serving size and liter bottles and on plastic covering for canned cases, as well as inside the cardboard containers of 6 thru 35 canned packs.  Every code counts, so spread the word to friends and family.

Please save what you can through the winter break and bring them in when we return to school, if you choose not to enter them yourselves! Get started today!
