You're invited to Horizon Honors' third Relay for Life! Relay for Life is an event by the American Cancer Society that raises money for all areas of cancer research, government advocacy, and programs for those currently battling the disease, such as rides to chemo and overnight stays for treatment away from home. The event honors and remembers all those who have been impacted by this disease, and fights back against it! Our event is on March 9th, 2018 from 5pm-midnight, and we need your help now to kick off our fundraising so we can hit our goal of $25,000 raised by that date!

How you can get involved:
1. Go to our website: www.relayforlife.org/horizonhonorsaz
2. Sign up on a current team or create a new one with your friends, family, clubs, etc for our event (note: there is a $15 registration fee payable online by credit or debit card for each person)
All students (18 and under) MUST FILL OUT A Youth Waiver (avaliable for printing on the website) and have a team chaperone (there is also a form for that on the website)
These forms must be turned it to the front office before the event or you will not be allowed to enter into the event!
3. There is a 9pm cutoff time for all students 8th grade and younger, or those in high school or adults who have not raised enough money. In order for high school students and adults to stay past midnight, you must raise $25 or more dollars!
4. Start raising money! It is very easy to send emails to friends, family, or anyone you know through the dashboard once you sign up for the event, or host your own fundraisers!

If you can't make it to the event, the Event Leadership Team is looking for donations of gift cards from Costco, Fry's, or Target to purchase supplies for the event, which can be brought to the front office, or a monetary donation can be made to the event, a specific team, or a participating student through the website!

Thank you so much for your support!

ms-hs-collect-for-cures-total.jpg

Throughout November, Horizon Honors Secondary School is participating in Collect for Cures, a national campaign to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). We are joining over 27,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can to help find a cure for blood cancer!

Each 3rd block class will have a Collect for Cures box and will compete to raise the most money through the month of November.  Get involved by putting your money, your spare change, directly in the box in your classroom or donate by participating in one of the many fundraisers throughout the month. Horizon Honors also has its own online giving page that students, parents and faculty can share with friends and family:
http://events.lls.org/pages/az/Horizon-Honors-School-2018

At the end of the month, the top fundraising 3rd block class will receive lunch catered by Olive Garden. The competition runs through the end of this month.

Thank you in advance for helping LLS to create a world without blood cancers! For more information on the Collect for Cures program, please visit http://www.studentseries.org/
