LEARN... BELIEVE... DREAM... DARE RELAY FOR LIFE LEADERSHIP TEAM RECOGNIZEDOn Saturday, September 16th the Horizon Honors Relay For Life Student Leadership Team was invited to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Volunteer Leadership Summit. In addition to attending workshops at the conference, the student leaders were recognized and asked to speak at the event as Mythbusters. The team of students earned the title of Mythbusters because there is a perception that students are unable to take charge of all facets of a Relay For Life event and show the leadership, dedication, and creativity necessary to make a significant impact. Over the last two years, our American Cancer Society liaison has recognized that Horizon Honors students have those abilities and are a model for how students can create their own Relay and make a tremendous impact in their community while learning real world skills. We are very proud of our Mythbusters and are looking forward to another great year of Relay For Life. You can already form a team and join these students in their efforts to make a difference at www.relayforlife.org/horizonhonorsaz.

ILP CONFERENCES At Horizon Honors, we value the student-parent-teacher triangle. This partnership helps our students reach their potential. Parent involvement is key and can be established during the ILP (Individual Learning Plan) conferences as you review your child’s progress and set goals for the quarter. The plan will cover topics, tasks, and learning outcomes your child will be expected to achieve by the end of the quarter. The written list of goals will serve as both a visual indicator of progress and an agenda for the conference. Students do not attend school on ILP Conference days, but rather are expected to attend the conference. First Quarter ILP Conferences are October 19th and 20th. Appointments can be made by calling 480-659-3000 or stopping by the Secondary School Office.
