Girls Beach Volleyball
Pictures will be taken at Pecos Park after all other pictures have been completed on campus.

VARSITY BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Boys Volleyball won the Notre Dame Tournament this past weekend with a 6-0 record. They defeated Corona del Sol, 2-0 in the finals. The Eagles are now 19-4, and ranked #3 in Power Points.
 
On Monday, the varsity boys victoriously swept Mountain Pointe High School 3-0.  Jeremy Kollman had 8 kills and 4 blocks.  Trevor Weary had 8 kills, 8 digs, 7 aces and 2 blocks.
 
Another victory for the varsity boys volleyball on Wednesday defeating Mesquite High School 3-0.   JV won 2-1 and Varsity won 3-0.
Trevor Weary had another Double-Double with 27 Kills & 10 Digs, and 2 Blocks
The Eagles are now 21-4.

JV BOYS VOLLEYBALL
On Monday, the junior varsity boys defeated Mountain Pointe 2-1.  The boys continued the trend on Wednesday and defeated Mesquite High School 2-1.
CO-ED GOLF
Golf had a home match April 6th afternoon and finished 3rd out of 3 teams with a team score of 230. Phoenix Country Day was first with 179, Tempe Prep second with 189. Anna Cochrane tied for 4th out of 16th individually shooting a 45, including a birdie on hole 9! Christian Rivers was second lowest for the Eagles shooting a 56. 
CO-ED TRACK & FIELD
The track team competed at the prestigious Sun Angel Classic last week. The meet featured many star athletes, which included current Olympians.  The standout performance featured Trevor Tam, he finished 6th in the Saturday night elite 800, with a time of 01:58.
CHANGES TO BOYS BASKETBALL
Horizon Honors Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Steve Currier announced his retirement from coaching last month.  Horizon Honors is pleased to announce that Coach Chris Henderson has accepted the position of Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach.  Coach Henderson has six years of coaching experience at the 5A level, played high school basketball at Barry Goldwater High School, and is a graduate of Northern Arizona University.  Coach Henderson believes that basketball is a privilege of being a good student, that every member of the team should put every other member first, and that every player has a role to fill.
 
All boys who will be in 9th-12th grade next year and want to play high school basketball are encouraged to attend a meeting on Wednesday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym to meet Coach Henderson and to discuss the summer schedule for Varsity and JV.  If you have any questions, please contact our Athletic Director, Nate Agostini, at 480-659-3008.  Go, Eagles!

GRADUATING SENIORS
Are you a senior that has plans to continue your education beyond high school?  Do you plan to attend a technical school, community college, or college/university?  HCLC is announcing the Larry Pieratt Scholarship to help you meet your financial needs.  This scholarship is given by the school to honor HCLC founder, Larry Pieratt.  There will be four $1,000 scholarships given this spring.  The scholarship is based on academic merit, leadership, and community service.  The Larry Pieratt Scholarship applications have been emailed to all seniors.  Applications are due April 28th and scholarship recipients are announced May 12th.

ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE NEXT WEEK!
In an effort to support our students to perform at their best, Horizon Honors is implementing some changes to our test taking procedures.  More will be shared as we get closer to the testing window, but one change that will impact all students is an alternative schedule we will be following for four days.  This schedule will allow us to test our students only in the morning blocks when they are most ready to perform, minimize the impact on instructional days, and allow for technology to be available for both testing and classroom use.  Please read each day carefully to understand how your schedule will be affected.  Accommodations will be made for students who, because of carpools or other circumstances, need to be on campus prior to 10:30 a.m. and are not testing.  A study location will be available to them.
