BOYS SOCCER
The unbeaten run ended Tuesday for the boys’ soccer team with a 2-5 loss to #1 ranked AZ College Prep. Horizon Honors took the lead in the opening five minutes. Ryan Holguin finished the ball from close range after an excellent pass from Will Goff. AZ College Prep equalized midway through the first half and the game went into the break tied.

The second half did not begin with enough intensity and they found themselves down 3-1 ten minutes into it. AZ Prep scored a fourth at the twenty minute mark. Horizon Honors reclaimed their composure and began to consistently make good passing combinations; they went close on several occasions before senior Will Goff scored Horizon’s second with ten minutes left following a Loren Ferguson cross. Horizon Honors conceded their fifth goal from a corner with the last kick of the game.

Despite the results there were many positive performances. Freshman Anders Vidarsson and Aiden Molinar were excellent along with senior Spencer Brown, Loren Ferguson and captain Daniel Haros in the center of midfield.

The boys’ basketball team tied a school record for “wins in a season” last Friday after the Chandler Prep game.  With an impressive 19-3 record, this veteran-laden squad continues to prepare for an exciting conclusion to their regular season while aiming toward a successful post season state tournament run.
