SWLAHEC BIDS FAREWELL TO CEO BOOTSIE DURAND WHO WILL RETIRE ON 12/31

SWLAHEC’s long time CEO, Bootsie Durand, was honored with a retirement party hosted by staff on December 12, 2017. An employee for just under 17 years, Bootsie began employment with SWLAHEC on February 5, 2001 when she was hired to run the Medical Job Fair of Louisiana and the New Doc on the Block programs. In 2004 she took over the running of the core AHEC programs and oversaw the SWLAHEC AmeriCorps grant. In late 2006, she was lead writer on the HeaRTS grant of which she was selected as director. She ran HeaRTS from early 2007 until being chosen for the CEO position in June 2008. During Bootsie’s tenure, SWLAHEC administered over $30.6 million in grants and contracts.

Bootsie will be greatly missed and we wish her a long and happy retirement.
