Come and See for Yourself

Matthew Thursby, TCCTC Graduate

"It was the spring of 2005 when I first came to the college, then known as the Center for Biblical Studies. I was 17 years old and a life-long Floridian. I had been home-schooled but had no interest in higher education. However, my parents insisted that I try a course at the college. So, there I was, sitting in a room with my fellow students, all of us quite different from one another, and myself not a little nervous, and all of us waiting for the first class of David Hull’s Biblical Teaching and Training course. In the years after that I went on to take many courses at the college, both for personal growth or for credit, and eventually pursued my diploma. I had the great privilege of becoming a volunteer at the college, mostly working with audio and video. Most special to my heart of all, I went on to make many endearing friendships with my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ.
Tallahassee Christian College and Training Center has been one of the most formative influences in my life. In high school, I had developed a love for formal logic, a subject on which I have done some modest writing, but it was through TCCTC that I became equipped with the additional tools and skills needed to apply the powers of reason to scripture, and understand God’s Word for myself, with no need to be dependent on the words of men, even those of translators. That alone is a gift I can never repay with mere words of thanks. '. . . How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace . . .' Romans 10:15 (KJV). Yet beyond so great a gift as that, my life itself, my philosophies, my thoughts and feelings, as well as my hopes and desires for the future, including my desire to one day write in the fantasy genre, have been shaped not only by the great education I received at the college, but also by wonderful Christian examples set by the men and women of both the student body and the faculty. Such worthy Christian fellowship is by itself as great, or greater, of a gift as a lifetime of education. 'He that walketh with wise men shall be wise . . .' Proverbs 13:20 (KJV). For TCCTC and the many good souls who make it possible I can only say that I am eternally thankful to Almighty God.
I have a full-time job now, and although I have less time than I once did, I still try to find time to help with audio and video and take a course or two. And although I know I fail a lot, it is my prayer that, wherever I go and whatever I do, I can be deserving of the many great blessings that God has given me through Tallahassee Christian College and Training Center."
-Matthew Thursby

Matthew says, “I wouldn’t be who I’ve become without TCCTC.”
