Based on your feedback our advocacy efforts this year will focus on the following issue areas:

ENACT Day 2018 will be held in Sacramento on April 18th! Join advocates and allies from across California to add your voice to the movement for health equity. CA4Health will have a delegation at PolicyLink’s Equity Summit in Chicago April 11-13 We are excited to learn  and be part of this larger equity movement! If you’re going to be there and want to connect with us, let us know here. We will explore ways to share some of our takeaways with you all after the Summit. 

TOOLS & RESOURCES
The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research is hosting two new SB1000 Workshops, one in Riverside (3/30 9:30am-12:00pm) and in Oakland (4/4 9:30am-12:00pm). This new law requires local city and county governments to address environmental justice in their general plans.
 
OPR is hosting these meetings to: 
  • Provide background information on the General Plan Guidelines and how it relates to SB 1000
  • Review the statutory language in SB 1000 
  • Provide opportunity for feedback on the forthcoming implementation guidance

California Reducing Disparities Project: Advancing Mental Health Equity Statewide Conference
April 10, 2018, Los Angeles

Mental health and wellness is a critical issue for diverse communities, particularly in the current social and political climate. However, access to appropriate and effective services is limited for communities of color, limited English proficient communities, immigrants and refugees, and the LGBT community. This conference will provide an opportunity for advocates, providers, consumers, and other community partners to collaborate and develop strategies for change. Click HERE for more information.

Seven Lessons for Fighting Inequality in America​

The annual Summit on Inequality & Opportunity is a one-day gathering dedicated to conversations about the widening opportunity gap in the United States. More than 400 policymakers, civic leaders, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and practitioners from all over the country gathered on March 8 to share their ideas, research, best practices, and models for the fight against poverty and inequality of all kinds.
