From Ray

Greetings Everyone!
Many thanks for all the comments and thoughtfulness following Sunday's service. We are blessed with the care and talents of all who contribute to the time we share together. I especially want to thank Sean, James Cesare and all those involved in worship for moving us in so many ways.

There have been some requests for audio and the text from last week's worship. We have posted these on our website at, along with Esther Popel's Flag Salute that I used in my provocation. If you have any problems accessing the information, just let me know.

And, as part of extending our online access and records, we are in the process of installing live-streaming capabilities in our sanctuary, which will also create and archive video and audio recordings. We are indebted to Priscilla Knapp-Swezey Teich  for her personal generosity in funding $8,000 of the $9,500 project in honor of her brother and our former member Kim Swezey, whom many of you will remember. Priscilla has encouraged us to raise the balance, so that we are vested in the project as well. Any gifts you might wish to make as part of this effort are welcome and will be added to the tribute in Kim's name. Please "Memo: Live-streaming" with any donations for this purpose.

The live-streaming project will also include two new LED projectors for the sanctuary with a  brightness and clarity to address the concerns about being able to view the slides clearly. If you have any connections with vendors of equipment like this, please let me know. We will be purchasing two projectors that have a brightness in the range 4000 - 6000 lumens.

I also want to thank Sylvia Ramsaywak for her development and organization of our youth event that was scheduled for August 24th and 25th. Summer vacations and other plans reduced the number of young folk who were around to register. So, with the blessings of all involved, we have postponed this week's workshop and are looking at dates for an early rescheduling in the fall. Stay tuned. More to come!

Speaking of more to come, October 1st is the date for our Service of Installation at Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ! We will post the full outline on our website by week's end, but so you know...everyone is invited to join those coming in from out of town on Saturday, September 30th. We will board a ferry at 1:25 PM at the Sayville Ferry Service for Cherry Grove, where we will have lunch at Cherry Grove Pizza (also owned by Frank of Sayville Pizza). Because the weather will be fabulous, we will spend some time in The Grove for lunch, at the small home that I rent during the summers, on the beach, or just wandering about and returning to Sayville, as the sun sets. There is no cost to you for any of this! :)

On Sunday,October 1st at our 10 AM worship, my colleague and friend Rev. Jim Rigby from Austin, Texas will bring us a message on his nationally acknowledged efforts in providing sanctuary and justice for those who need us more than ever. Jim was recently featured in The Washington Post as well interviewed on Fox News' Tucker Carlson Show. It was quite an interview!

Following worship, we will have time to talk with Jim in our "talkback forum." Then from 1PM - 2PM there will be choir rehearsal with Sean and our choir for anyone wishing to sing during the installation service, which will begin at 3 PM. It will be a time of gathering, hospitality, gratitude, and great thanks for the ministry and life of this congregation, as we go forward together.

So, please save the dates and join us for all you can, as we celebrate our lives and calls to serve with one another.

Enjoy the rest of the week - and about calls - you know that person you just thought of - I have a feeling they'd love to hear from you! :)
