From Pastor Ray

Dear Friends,

As I write to you this week, I continue to be grateful for the many gifts each of you bring to our congregation and to our Sunday worship and gatherings. I am still in the spiritual echo of Sunday's service, as we recognized and honored those who have served our country in ways that go beyond any appreciation we can offer. I was deeply touched when those who have served in the military stood and were spontaneously applauded by the congregation. It reminds me how important it is to never forget that our most powerful and important relationships are the ones we have with each other. God's love, shared with sisters and brothers, is still the best and most powerful hope we have in caring for each other and our world.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and marks the 50 day mark since Easter and the time of Jesus' Ascension. We will be reading Acts 2:1-21 and John 7:37-39. My "provocation" or message centers on the reality of the Spirit that built this early church following the Resurrection and the our continued journey, seeking an awareness of the presence and ways to call on the Spirit in our lives today. I hope you will be able to join us.

Also, I would like to mention that we have recently added two videos to our website of the recent forum presented by the Refugee Action Committee. We welcome your comments and suggestions, as we progress in adding content online that includes special forums and livestreaming of worship for those who are unable to join us. It's a leap - but one worth taking. More on this as we go forward.

Lastly, please send any announcements you would like included in eChimes or our Sunday bulletins as soon as possible to Email Heather Corcoran, Editor. We want to make sure we do all we can to include all the information you wish to share on a timely basis.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday, if not sooner! Please stay in touch, either way. I always welcome hearing from you.

With love,

Picture This!

Summer’s coming! Our sanctuary’s east wall “gallery” has been graced by artistic creations of our church family during several summers. This year we would like to tap the photographic talents of our members and friends.
Most of us have several (hundred) favorite photographs we have taken. Please consider choosing, enlarging and framing one or two of your photos so you can be a part of what could be an exceptional display this summer.
There will soon be paperwork in the vestry with further information and a mid-June due date. We look forward to seeing your great shots in our Members and Friends Summer Photography Showcase!!

Stop & Shop Cards are available at coffee hour each week.
They make great gifts and are great way to purchase your groceries

Members and friends of our congregation continue to accompany individuals appearing before immigration courts, both on Long Island and in New York City. Accompaniment is a powerful way to witness – just by your presence – that folks facing immigration hearings have community among us. If you would like to learn more about accompaniment or be placed on the email list to learn of upcoming accompaniment opportunities, please contact Ray at 631-827-8611 or
