Two Hands Holding

PAYING IT FORWARD

As many of you already know, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and other areas of the US have been devastated by hurricanes over the last month.  We at Star Outreach wanted to help those in need and thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to make two $100 donations to food banks in Texas and Florida to help those most impacted.   We serve our local community and also are blessed to be able to help others during a great time of need.

Hands Raised for Volunteers

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers Needed for Christmas!  We will need extra help during the first few weeks of December organizing, sorting and collecting for our Adopt a Family project.  Hours are generally from 10am – 4pm during the week at a local to be announced in the Star area.

Calling all Grant Writers! Do you have any experience in writing grants for non-profits?  If so, we’d love your help!  Star Outreach is currently looking for grant writers to assist us with funding for current projects and those we’d love to get off the ground.

Interesting in helping us with either of these opportunities?  Contact Teri @ terikramer@outlook.com.

STAR OUTREACH SPOTLIGHT
SALLY BOYD

Sally Boyd is Star Outreach’s clothing volunteer extraordinaire.  An Albertson’s retiree formerly from Pomona, California, Sally now dedicates her time, a spare bedroom and laundry soap to collecting, washing, mending, distributing, consigning and storing clothing for all seasons.
We regularly collect clothing donations from the community for a variety of purposes.  The first is to supply clothing for our food bank recipients and coats during our Christmas Adopt-A –Family program.  The second is to raise funds. New and gently used clothing items are sold at two local consignment stores, Sweet Repeat in Star and Story & Co. in Nampa.  Last year we received over $700 from consignment!  Sally graciously handles all of these elements and can be seen making regular stops at local consignment stores, storage facility and in her own laundry room!

THANK YOU Sally for all you do for the community and Star Outreach!

*If you have clothing you would like to donate for consignment or general food bank needs, please drop off your donations at the food bank Monday – Thursday from 10am – 1pm or in the bin out front after hours.  Additionally we have a bin in the front of Sweet Repeat*

As always, THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers and supporters!!!!

Star Outreach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in the great city of Star, Idaho.  Our facility is Star's old City Hall which we use to operate our weekly food distribution and other community projects.  We currently serve approximately 95-110 families per month with food boxes and also provide weekly offerings from our corporate sponsors and community donations.

Additionally, since 2007 Star Outreach has established a Recycle–a-Bicycle program, Holiday Adopt-a-Family program, School Supply Drive, Summer Lunch Program and a Community Garden.

Every dollar we receive goes directly towards these projects and provides Star Outreach with more resources to continue and grow in serving the Star community.

We appreciate all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and those who help support our efforts every day!
