Whew, 2017 has really flown by hasn’t it?  We’re sorry it’s been too long since we’re communicated our updates and current happenings.

2017 has been another record year for us for our weekly food boxes.  July was a busy month with 103 boxes!  For the previous part of 2017, we have averaged 84 boxes each month which is higher than ever.

Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check out our Facebook page or to stop by and visit with Connie, Diane or one of our friendly volunteers!

We have greatly appreciated all of the donations we’ve received this year, from the Spring Food Drive, to the Post Office Stamp out Hunger Drive and the various donations we receive from members of the community each week.  These donations amount to thousands and thousands of pounds of food each year to help us help our neighbors.

And speaking of donations, we’ve had two very successful monetary campaigns this year, first the statewide event Idaho Gives in May and the CenturyLink Backpack Buddies Food Drive in June.  Huge thanks to our donors, we received over $2,200 in donations and matching funds this year!!

It's Back to School Time!
Our school supply drive is in full swing!  Every year we collect school supplies for local grade, middle and high school students.  Your donations help many students, teachers and classrooms receive the gear.

Look for the flyer on your front door or stop by the food bank for a full list of items needed.  We can always use pens, pencils, loose-leaf paper including both wide and college ruled and thumb [USB] drives.
Let’s get those local children all set for school this year!

Community Garden
The Community Garden is located behind Salon & Co. on Star Road.  Many, many volunteer hours were donated to the garden this year to help make it a successful and beautiful season!

If you are interested in supporting their efforts, they are currently selling irises for purchase.  Also, you can stop by our garden on S. Star Road behind Salon and Co. to volunteer and get to harvest veggies for personal use if you’d like! All other veggies are donated to the food bank.  Contact Connie Krebs for more info @ (208) 779-0046.

A special thanks to Jerry Gage for all his hard work!

Summer Lunch Program
Our Summer Lunch Program was another great success this year!  Thanks to our volunteers and partners, 80-120 kids each day, three times a week were served a hot lunch and enjoyed a fun activity.

Activities included reading books thanks to the library, playing in the park, and activities with chalk, bubbles and light up balls. A special thanks go out to Leland Olson, LifeSpring Church and The Lions Club for their support each week.

Star Outreach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in the great city of Star, Idaho.  Our facility is Star's old City Hall which we use to operate our weekly food distribution and other community projects.  We currently serve approximately 95-110 families per month with food boxes and also provide weekly offerings from our corporate sponsors and community donations.

Additionally, since 2007 Star Outreach has established a Recycle–a-Bicycle program, Holiday Adopt-a-Family program, School Supply Drive, Summer Lunch Program and a Community Garden.

Every dollar we receive goes directly towards these projects and provides Star Outreach with more resources to continue and grow in serving the Star community.

We appreciate all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and those who help support our efforts every day!
