March 2016

Mothers Helping Mothers, Inc., is an all volunteer not-for-profit organization,    that provides basic necessities such as clothing and baby items, free of charge, to families in     need. All items are donated or purchased through grant funding or private contributions and    are provided free of charge to our clients. We have run on the spirit and energy of a handful
of volunteers for more than twenty five years!

2016 Caring Heart of the Year Award

Congratulations to MHM volunteer Marcella Schuyler who recently received the 2016 Caring Heart of the Year Award at the 13th Annual Caring Hearts Luncheon for her service to the Caring Hearts Committee. Each year this luncheon benefits First Step's Mothers and Infants Program.

For over 20 years the Florida Winefest has raised funds for Mothers Helping Mothers. Every year, this has allowed us to purchase new cribs, car seats, toddler beds and diapers for over 1200 families. Please support Mothers Helping Mothers by attending the Florida Winefest, March 17-20th.  For more information go to their website Florida Winefest and Auction.

We Need Your Help!

Whether you are available once a week, once a month, once a year or anywhere in between, we can use your help! Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and Fridays to help check in and check out clients and to help take in and sort donated items.  In addition, there are work days every Wednesday from 9-12 and some Mondays, where volunteers can help restock the store.  If you are interested in volunteering or have a group (church, mom's group, neighborhood club, etc.) that is interested in volunteering, please contact Cheri DeVries at 714-349-6552.

Mothers Helping Mothers for the Holidays

In December MHM was once again able to provide Christmas gifts to local families.  We had 114 families come to our Christmas Gift Extravaganza and we provided presents for 325 children that day.  Thank you to all who supported this effort by donating gift items.  A special thank you to all our volunteers who made this a successful event for so many local families.  It was truly awesome day.

In addition, we have served 841   families between December 1st and March 1st. Thank you for supporting our local families in need.
