Food Bank Distribution
September - 81 Boxes
October - 84 Boxes

This fall we have had some of our largest months, averaging over 350 individuals served each month and 5 new families from the community.  Additionally, the Senior supplemental program provided 10 seniors an additional box of food for the months of September & October.

The FALL FOOD DRIVE is still in full swing. We have collected many canned goods, dry pastas, meat items and other food to re-stock our shelves for the holidays.  Thank you to all who have donated and if you would still like to donate, our food drive is extended into November this year.  We accept food donations at the food bank, city hall or the fire department.  We take any and all food donations but are in special need of canned goods including pancake syrup, soup, fruit, chili, pasta sauce, canned pasta, tuna, and beans.

Connie's Korner

Thanksgiving is coming up soon which means that Christmas is almost around the corner... We will be starting our sign-ups for Adopt-a-Family this week at City Hall, on Thursday November 5th from 3pm-5pm. Additional dates will mirror our weekly food distribution, November 12th & 19th with the final sign-up date of December 3rd, all from 3pm-5pm.

Also, just a friendly reminder, we will be closed November 26th for the holiday.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Christmas Adopt-A-Family

Its that time of year, Star Outreach's Adopt-A-Family will start this month with our giving trees.  Individuals and businesses can adopt an entire family or pick individual children to purchase gifts for.

Our trees will feature color-coded tags with specifics of the child's age, gender and Christmas wish list. Trees will be located around town, including City Hall, Idaho Independent Bank, Star Sewer and Water, Salon & Co. and the Mercantile.  We request that all  gifts need to be returned unwrapped and with the original tag.

Additionally, we will need volunteers for the first 3 weeks of December for general set-up, sorting gifts, clothes, coats, food items, create food boxes and many other tasks for our Adopt-A-Family project.  Please contact Connie if you are available, including dates & times you or your group can volunteer.

Volunteer Spotlight -
Rita Gambino

Nicknamed the "Pantry Queen," Rita is one of our longest serving volunteers, having started with Star Outreach in 2009.  She has done quite a bit of everything around the food bank and currently manages our food pantry and canned goods.

Originally hailing from Illinois, Rita moved to Star 19 years ago.  Six years ago she was at a point in life where she was looking to give back to the community and found Star Outreach.  When she's not volunteering her time, Rita enjoys walking the neighborhood, travel and socializing with friends.

Thank you Rita for your service!
