July Distribution - 73 Boxes
July was a large month, we had several new families and our new partnership with Albertsons provided many needed groceries including meat, cheese, dairy products,
and fruit.  Our local garden and other local farms provided many fresh vegetables.

155 Adults; 18 Seniors; 129 Children
302 - Total Individuals Served

Our Back to School Drive is in full swing this month!  It takes place from August 1st through the 31st and we are excited to announce our partnership with Walmart [Ten Mile Store] this year. They will be collecting school supplies, food and other items for us all month long.  We are also accepting donations at the Food Bank.

These school supplies assist the students at Star Elementary School and their families in defraying the costs associated with
starting a new school year.

We are also in the process of walking local neighborhoods and handing out flyers detailing what we need to collect for our drive.  If you can help us with this, please contact Bethany Morrison at or (661) 808-5639.  Neighborhoods we need covered include Lobo Creek, Rockbridge and Middle Creek.

Summer Lunch
has been and is another great success this year, we are currently helping feed 75 - 125 children & adults every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the help of our partners, LifeSpring Church, Star Lions Club and our many fantastic volunteers.

We were pleased to announce a new program from Idaho Food Bank called the Commodity Supplemental Program.  This program is designed seniors over the age of 60 who meet Idaho residency & income requirements.  This program will provide an additional food box every month for those who qualify.  We currently have 10 individuals signed up and expect to reach many more as we spread the word and educate locals who could benefit from the program.

Volunteer Spotlight -
Diane Simi

Diane started volunteering with Star Outreach in November 2014 when she felt called to give back to the community.

Originally from the Bay Area of California, Diane and her husband, Al, moved to Star six years ago to be with their daughter.  Their family has since grown to include a adorable grandson and four lovable dogs.

Affectionally nicknamed the "OCD Lady," Diane has been a regular volunteer every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday around the Food Bank.  She keeps Connie organized, has been working steadly on our Christmas outreach and can pretty much handle any task presented to her.

Thank you Diane for your service!

Local Outreach -
Community Garden

Our garden is growing and growing with many plants including tomatoes, eggplants, jalapenos, lettuces of all varieties and many herbs.  Located behind Salon & Company at 321 S. Star Rd., the garden was started a few years back by Jayne & Jack Gardener to provide fresh produce for our Food Bank.

Our master gardener, Jerry Gage, Kim Ingraham from Star Parks and Recreation and our faithful volunteers have worked hard all season to produce a variety of vegetables, herbs and other types of produce.

We love our Volunteers and we currently need assistance with weeding. The crew meets every Friday at 6pm at the garden.
